The wind finally swung to the back. It may have waited until halfway through the ride, when we headed inland, but my wish came true. The miles this afternoon were fast and fun, as we left the biggest hills behind and cruised from Marathon to White River. From Jackfish Lake to Nipigon we saw many great vistas of the Gitche Gumee. By day’s end, we were in White River, home to Winnie the Pooh, and took a quick dip in the lake before setting up camp outside the visitor centre.
Tomorrow is a straight slog into the wind, at least after Wawa, where we will attempt to get as deep into Superior Provincial Park as possible.
